Description:
What causes it?
- Exposure to chronic irritants
- Improperly sized pouch openings
- Mostly found with urinary diversions due to chronic fluid on the skin
Symptoms
- Area might be hypersensitive
- Difficulty with pouch fit
What does it look like?
- Raised lesions with a warty appearance
- Begin at stomal base and extend out for varying distances
- May be partial or all the way around
- Grayish
Treatment
- Refit system
- Acidification program
- Increase fluids
- Leg bag addition to night drainage system
