Description:

What causes it?
- Inflammation within a hair follicle
- Traumatic hair removal
- Careless pouch removal

Symptoms
- May have itching
- May have pain if severe

What does it look like?
- Lesions are around the hair follicles
- Red lesions
- May have pustules
- May be a lot, may be a little

Treatment
- Remove peristomal hair using electric razor or scissors instead of creams or dry shaving
- Change pouch less often
- Proper pouch removal technique
- Proper cleansing when changing appliance
